We’re delighted to share that Jess Edwards, our Commercial Director here at Wyndford Wagyu, has officially been appointed to the Board of Directors at the British Wagyu Association (BWA).
With a wealth of experience in both the dairy and beef industries, including time at Holstein UK and Cogent, Jess joined Wyndford Wagyu in 2020 and has since been instrumental in growing our Shropshire-based farm into one of Europe’s largest Fullblood Wagyu herds, now home to over 475 head of elite cattle.

This week we have been flying the flag for British Wagyu at Euro Tier in Hannover. There have been 1,700 exhibitors from 53 different countries. A huge range of products have been exhibited, providing a great opportunity to see how we can improve things on farm. We have also connected with farmers and other industry professionals promoting the Wagyu breed in Europe.
The 2022 Australian Wagyu Edge Conference attracted 450 delegates from across the global Wagyu Sector to Melbourne on the 26th-28th April. Rob & Jess from Wyndford Wagyu made the trip down under, toured various farms prior to attending, culminating with Jess presenting at the conference.
The Wagyu Breeders Association held its Open Meeting & AGM on 14th April at Wyndford Wagyu, Shropshire, courtesy of Philip Maddocks. A great turnout saw members and guests joined by sponsors and partners along with Wagyu breeders from Northern Ireland, Germany and Republic of Ireland.
Wagyu – an increasingly popular breed in the UK, but phenomenal on the worldwide stage. At Wyndford we are keen to develop and grow our herd with the wider market in mind, focussing on Elite genetics and great quality stock. We therefore require a platform where we can effectively compare and market our cattle with those overseas. This is why the British Wagyu Association are closely affiliated with the Australian Wagyu Association.
Wyndford Wagyu, the UK’s largest Fullblood Wagyu Herd was established in 2018 following the difficult decision to disperse the Maddocks family Dairy herd. It was at that moment Philip Maddocks decided that it would be good for his father, a dairy farmer of 67 years, to have some stock on the farm. Having tasted a Wagyu steak some years ago whilst on a trip in the United States and with the desire to do something a little different, Philip sought out a handful of wagyu and imported them from Germany. And so the Wyndford Wagyu herd began.
