We’re delighted to share that Jess Edwards, our Commercial Director here at Wyndford Wagyu, has officially been appointed to the Board of Directors at the British Wagyu Association (BWA).
With a wealth of experience in both the dairy and beef industries, including time at Holstein UK and Cogent, Jess joined Wyndford Wagyu in 2020 and has since been instrumental in growing our Shropshire-based farm into one of Europe’s largest Fullblood Wagyu herds, now home to over 475 head of elite cattle.
Wyndford Wagyu was established in 2018 by Philip Maddocks, who set out to build on his father’s 67-year farming legacy and create something truly exceptional: a herd of Fullblood Wagyu to rival the best in the world. Philip has led the business with bold ambition, shaping the future of British Wagyu. With Jess in the position of Commercial Director and Rob as Farm Manager, both have played key roles in delivering that vision; helping to grow the herd, refine the breeding programme, and bring Wyndford Wagyu to a wider audience. Together, their focused approach to genetics, sourcing elite lines from both Australia and the USA, has already delivered remarkable results, including Wyndford Itoguni 308H, now ranked as one of the world’s top Wagyu bull for marble score at +4.8. Wyndford are now proud to be producing some of the highest-grading carcasses in the Northern Hemisphere — a testament to the strength of their programme and dedication to excellence.
Alongside this, Jess has played a leading role in expanding the reach of Wyndford’s Fullblood Wagyu beef, building our online store and forging relationships with respected wholesale partners such as Aubrey Allen. As early adopters of the Meat Image Japan (MIJ) digital camera technology, Wyndford has used advanced carcass grading data to further refine our herd and push genetic progress with purpose.
Commenting on her appointment, Jess said:
“I am delighted to be joining the BWA Board at a time when British F1 Wagyu is enjoying tremendous growth. I’m keen to ensure that all UK Fullblood Wagyu producers are represented and advocated for, whilst using my wider connections to bring all UK F1 producers around the table. Differentiation between F1 and Fullblood Wagyu products is essential, to ensure continued growth in the UK. I can’t wait to get more involved in the BWA and meet more members across the UK.”
This is a proud moment for Wyndford Wagyu, and a reflection of Jess’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and the future of British Wagyu. We’re excited to see the positive impact she’ll bring to the association and the wider industry.
Congratulations, Jess!
