Rob Edwards

Farm Manager

What is your background?

Having grown up working on the family farm Rob has a very strong background in Dairy, Beef and Arable. He came away from the family enterprise in 1990’s and set up his own successful fencing and estate maintenance business. He spent 20 years fencing on farms and estates across Shropshire & Staffordshire, during which he experienced many different farms and farming practises. Rob brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Wyndford Team.

What is your role & responsibility?

Rob’s role as Farm Manager involves manging and overseeing the running of the entire farm and it’s team. He looks after all infrastructure expansion and maintenance projects, herd management, cattle feed, forage stocks and harvesting, calving, recipient purchases and sales, managing and growing the beef finishers and much more.

Favourite part of the job?

“My favourite part of the job is working on and managing such a progressive and forward thinking farm. There is always a new project to be working on and before it is finished, the next one is already lined up. I’m also responsible for all the out of hours calving, this is definitely one of my favourite parts of the job, welcoming all the new little Wagyu calves into the world with a “Welcome to Wyndford Wagyu!””

Favourite animal?

“My favourite animal is… Ermintrude, she is one of the Jersey recipients we had on the farm. During her time with us, whist she was in calf with a Fullblood Wagyu embryo, she always came up to me in the field for a fuss and a scratch. When she calved down and wasn’t exactly a great specimen for a Dairy farm, her character won us over and we kept her around. She has just had a little Jersey calf who will join our Recipient herd when she is old enough.”
